Questions, answered.
The things clients ask us most. If yours isn't here, our team is one message away.
Opening an account
How do I open an account?
Choose whether you want a personal or business account, give us your name, email and phone number, and pick a password. You'll verify your email address, then upload identity documents. Our team reviews everything and emails you when your account is open.
What documents do you need?
One government-issued document — a national ID card, driving licence or passport. We ask for a photo of the front, a photo of the back, and a photo of you holding it. A passport only needs its photo page. Photos taken on your phone are fine; we shrink them for you automatically.
How long does approval take?
Usually less than one business day once your email is verified and your documents are uploaded. If we need anything else, we'll email you rather than simply declining.
What happens to my identity documents?
They are stored privately and are never shared. Once your review is complete our team deletes the images, and a record that they were reviewed and removed is kept in our audit log.
Moving money
How do I pay money in?
Choose a deposit method on the Deposit page and you'll see exactly where to send the funds. Record the amount you sent, attach proof if you have it, and our team verifies it and credits your balance — you'll get an email receipt showing your new balance.
How do I withdraw?
Choose a method, enter your payout details and the amount, and confirm with your security word. Our team reviews every withdrawal before it is processed. Pending withdrawals are held against your available balance so you can't accidentally spend the same money twice.
Can I send money to another Northstone account?
Yes, instantly, using the recipient's account number or email address. To send money to an outside bank, use the Withdraw option instead.
Why do you ask for a security word?
It's a second check on the actions that move money out of your account — withdrawals and transfers to other people. Moving money between your own checking and savings doesn't need it. You set it in Account settings.
Cards, loans and products
Which card will I get?
You choose the tier you'd like when you apply — Classic, Gold, Platinum or Black — and each one carries its own credit limit range. Our team confirms the final tier and limit after reviewing your application, so you never have to name an amount yourself.
What happens after a card is approved?
Your card appears on your dashboard with its number, expiry and security code, hidden until you choose to show them. You can freeze and unfreeze it yourself at any time from the card's page.
How do loans work?
Tell us how much you need and over what term. If approved, the money is paid into your checking account and the amount owed appears on the product page, where you can make repayments. Credit lines work the other way round — we set a limit, and you draw from it when you need to.
Where do I see my interest rate and next payment date?
On the product's own page, alongside your limit, current balance and card tier. Every approved product has its own page and its own activity list.
Your account and security
Where can I see my transactions and statements?
Your dashboard shows recent activity. The Transactions page shows everything, filterable by account, type, status and date. The Statements page has a statement for each month you've been active, which you can print, save as a PDF, or download as a spreadsheet file.
I've forgotten my password.
Use the 'Forgot password?' link on the sign-in page. We'll email you a link that works once and expires after an hour.
Which languages do you support?
English, French, German and Spanish — across the website, your account, and the emails we send you. Change it with the globe icon in the header.
Are my deposits insured?
Deposits are FDIC insured up to the maximum permitted by law. The specifics that apply to your account are set out in your deposit agreement.
